A rare Swiss gold (750‰) and enamel singing bird box. Tabatière of rectangular form with cut sides, enamelled in full sky blue on the main panels, the borders and sides enamelled in black champlevé with gold decoration of latticework and acanthus leaves at the corners, the lid centred on an octagonal plate enamelled with an allegorical scene of Light Love, depicting a reclining putto in a landscape holding a soaring bird with a ribbon, framed in gold. The invisibly hinged lid protects an openwork plate engraved with foliate scrolls protecting the movement, with no visible signature. The back of the case also opens with an invisible reverse hinge to reveal a compartment for snuff.
